Laser Hair Removal Facts You Must Know
Category: Permanent Hair Removal | Feb 22, 2010 |

Laser hair removal has become really trendy in recent years to get clear of useless hair. There are a few laser hair removal facts you must grasp before daring into this area. First of, you should not let your hopes get too high. It is certainly interesting to think of permanent hair removal, but laser hair removal can only achieve so much.
Not everybody is successful with laser hair removal. A right clinic will make clear what they can and cannot do for you giving your particular hair and skin type. The process works best on lighter skinned persons that have dark hair. If you are very tan or dark skinned, in most instances, a clinic will not suggest that you think about this system for hair removal. The hair removal can be attained, but the challenge lies with your skin. The skin might turn out to be lighter at the hair removal area and the change may be lasting. An unpleasant marking may be left so that you are no better off than you were with the useless hair in the first place.
Evaluating clinics is important since some can do more than others in spite of your skin and hair color. It is not uncommon to learn of a great clinic to perform a procedure with one kind of laser instrument, only to uncover a competing clinic that utilizes more advanced laser equipment. With the different laser equipment on hand, some clinics may possibly be able to handle more types of hair and skin factors than another is capable of. A word of guidance to you would be, if a clinic informs you that you are not a candidate for laser hair removal, go obtain a second opinion before giving up.
As far as permanency of the treatment, there is only a success rate of possibly, 90%. This percentage is only a success rate, not a rating for whether or not the procedure gave you great hair removal results. The last 10% failure rating may be that the results were thinner, but still unfinished, hair removal from an site and have regrowth of hairs that were removed.
Only skilled persons must do the laser hair removal treatments since hazardous lasers are truly utilized to do the procedure. So choosing the right hair removal clinic is of highest importance to be sure that the treatments are being performed by skillful and knowledgeable technicians. Follow up help, access to discussion, and general caring for your strength and comfort, will depend on a sympathetic staff. Not only does your clinic have to have suitable qualifications, but it is imperative to have a sensitive staff that is truly looking out for you.
Laser hair removal is expensive and the charge increases with the size of the spot you would like treated. The first treatment may look reasonable to you, but nearly always subsequent treatments are necessary before the process is complete. Each treatment will add more to the whole price of having hair removed by laser. So even if the opening price may begin in the hundreds of dollars, it can end up being in the thousands. Hair removal hardly warrants coverage on anyoneís health insurance policy, so this will have to be paid for outright, or financed. A good number of clinics either have financing themselves or can set you up to be financed by an outside company.
After laser hair removal, there may be some ordinary and expected redness and swelling in the site. It is of the greatest consequence that you keep to the recovery information you are given to the letter. Any side effects normally clear up in a few days time. However, laser hair removal is almost akin to a actual medical procedure and complications and additional side effects can arise. In this incident, it is once more critical that you decide on your clinic sensibly. Your professional after-care if sudden difficulties occur, can make or break whether your laser treatment causes any permanent harm or not.

Permanent hair removal should be done by a professional. Any home kit cannot promise you permanent removal.
There are two home options that will gradually decrease hair growth:
1. Waxing – It is way easier to visit a pro for this, but it's totally possible to do on your own. Visit a beauty supply store that sells to the public for the equipment. GiGi supplies work best in my opinion. Waxing pulls hair by the bulb. Once the bulb is pulled out hair will not grow back. But, you don't always get the bulbs pulled out, so it may take years before the area is completely hairless, if ever.
2. Depilatories – Nair or Veet-like products. Not good for everyone, it burns my skin. The coarser the hair, the longer it has to stay on, and the higher the risk for burns. Depilatories turn the hair into a jelly-like mass and then it is wiped away. Again, it may take years to rid completely of the hair, if ever.
Professional methods include electrolysis and laser removal. Both might take a few visits and the place you choose for your services should have a good reputation. They are costly, but get the job done.

Haha james good times good times
Ok, let me try to help you =)
I bought a Tria about a year ago and used it twice on my bikini area then sold it. I saw a loss of about 10% of the hair, which is still awesome because it's permanent. It hurts not that bad but it seems worse because you have to do it to yourself. It only runs about 20 minutes on a single charge and takes 4 hours to charge back up. I found it very hard to cover my bikini area in 20 minutes because you have to pick it up and set it down for every light pulse, which is about the size of a dime. The lasers at the clinic pulse repetitively as they glide it over your skin quickly, it is MUCH faster. Also, the Tria is a class 1 laser, the ones in the salons are a class 4, so they are 4 times more powerful, effective, and painful. I ended up going to a medspa and I've really enjoyed it so far. The tria cost me $1,000 And to get 6 sessions of my legs, underarms, and bikini area, for permanent smoothness cost me a total of $4,000… And it's definitely worth 4 times the price. The tria will be a flop because of the kinks that make it difficult to use. I recommend saving up and getting it done at your dermatologist, clinic, or medspa. OK! Here's my standard laser hair removal answer if it help you any, I just wanted to add a little to it! =)
Okay… science answer:
You grow in at least 80% of your hair during puberty. When you have laser hair removal the hairs it kills will never grow again. But you still have up to 20% of your normal thickness that will grow in throughout the rest of your life. So people get touch up sessions every 3-5 years after their big 6 treatments. You need about 6 treatments, one each 2 months for a year, because the hair grows in different stages and it can only kill hair in the active growth stage.
Okay…
Personal Experience:
I've had 2 out of my 6 treatments so far. It HURTS! I've had my legs, underarms, and bikini area done. When you get your bikini area done they do ALL of it! Including spreading your butt and vaginal lips spart to laser all the cracks… It's sorta awkward. After the 2 treatments I've had so far I've lost about 60% of leg hair, 40% bikini hair, and 25% underarms hair. It's because the underarms hair is the thinnest and the leg hair is the coarsest. But the legs are the most painful. The more it hurts the better it works.
I spent this much for 6 treatments in each area:
Bikini-$750
Underarms-$750
Legs (toes to bikini)-$2,500
Email me if you have any more questions about it!
the reason it takes so long is that there are different hair cycles so some follicles might not even grow out till later in life , but it does reduce the visible amount of hair, it does kill the follicles , and yes it can be expensive. and if done enough time it will completely remove alot of the hair and then you would just go in for occasional touch ups , for example once every 4-5 years.
Ive been getting my eyebrows and lip waxed for about 10 years now, and while the pain stings, it hurts a whole heck of a lot less than tweezing each individual hair. If I shave its back the next day, waxing new hairs start a few days later, but about 2-3 weeks before its back like it was before.
I have REALLY dark thick hairs on my arms and legs. I finally decided to get my arms waxed, and my goodness I wish I had done it a long time ago! The arm hairs did start growing back within a week, but very few and they were much finer. I had tried all those do it at home wax strips and they had never worked before, now they do as long as I do it weekly to get the light new growth. The arm waxing really did not hurt very much. Once they rip it off you'll sting for about 10 seconds, and its gone! No more pain than like a belly flop in a pool.
Sadly I have found nothing for doing it at home that works permanently. I've tried so many things, so if you find something that works, Id love to hear it!!
Good luck
You probably can’t, sorry.
And if you can I’m sure you don’t want to be playing with that stuff. Since the part of the follicle that grows is so deep in the skin to do enough damage to it would require a very powerful and possibly caustic substance that may very well give you second and third degree chemical burns on the skin surrounding the follicle.
Electrolysis, laser and scaring are the only things I know of that permanently remove hair and they do so by destroying the root irreparably. Any cream that can destroy a root irreparably is kind of a scary thought.
