An Honest Overview of Hair Removal for Genitals
Category: Hair Removal Cream | Dec 01, 2009 |

Genital hair removal for men involves the removal of hair from the penis and scrotum. For women, this refers to the removal of hair from the labia majora, labia minora and clitoral hood. The process of removing genital hair requires fastidious care because the genital area has an unlevel surface and thinner skin. Consequently, some of the normal hair removal methods you use on your pubic area may not be very appropriate for removing genital hair.
Genital Waxing
Waxing the genitals for women should not be a problem as waxing works relatively fine on the female genitalia. Men do not have it the easy way with waxing because not many waxing professionals are willing to wax scrotums. The problem with the scrotum is that the skin there is too loose. During the pulling off of the wax, the skin on the scrotum tends to stretch drastically, which creates a lot of pain. Hair on the scrotum is usually coarser, which makes it even harder to remove with waxing.
To further complicate things for men, most waxing professionals are women. While some men certainly do not mind a woman handling their sexual organs, others may not like the idea of having a man performing the job and some men want no one to touch them. If you prefer to wax your genitals yourself, you could purchase a home waxing kit. The main advantage of waxing is it removes the hair from the root, which lasts from 3 to 8 weeks before growing back. The hair growth process can be slowed down with special hair inhibitors to extend the effectiveness of waxing. The pain factor is what stops most people from waxing but if you think you can handle it, then go for it!
Laser Genital Hair Removal
This is probably the best permanent genital hair removal method out there but it can be very uneconomical. It can take between 4 to 8 laser hair removal sessions, each of which will cost $150 or more. Moreover, you will have to be willing to “bare all” in front of a stranger for quite some time.
How To Safely Remove Genital Hair
When it comes to removing genital hair, it is important that your chosen method is both gentle and safe enough for the delicate skin of your genitals. The most common way of removing hair on the genitals is by shaving with the current razors you possess because it is economical, convenient and quick. However, the use of normal razors may lead to nicks and bumps on the genitals causing pain, infections and itchiness. Razor blades and depilatory creams that were not designed for contact with the genitals are unsuitable for genital hair removal. If you are open about invest a bit more cash, you might want to consider getting safer alternatives like waxing, pubic shavers, laser genital hair removal and plucking with tweezers.
Genital Hair Removers
If you prefer to remove genital hair by shaving, the best way is an electric pubic shaver, which will rule out the risk of hurting yourself and the other drawbacks associated with shaving with a razor. These pubic shavers usually look like mini men’s beard shavers with a rotary foil at the top. You will be required to trim the hair you want to shave till it is very short in length to enable these pubic shavers to work. Due to the fact that shaving does not remove hair from the root, you may experience ingrown hairs when they start to grow out if you do not apply special after-shave sprays to prevent the new hair from growing sideways. Lastly, shaving requires a lot of maintenance because hair grows back in just a few days.
Genital Hair Removal Depilatory Creams
Even though there are hair removal creams for the face, legs and pubic area, there aren’t any hair removal creams (as far as I know) that claim to be mild enough for the genitalia.
Conclusion
I tried to cover the various means of removing genital hair as precisely and truthfully as I could. As you can see, there is no faultless solution to remove genital hair. You will need to conscientiously select which solution suits you best based on your budget, time constraints and personal preferences.

Any home remedies to reduce redness and inflammation of the skin due to hair removal cream? Please help! I used a hair removal cream yesterday to remove the hair on my upper lip. After putting it on, it stung 2 much that i wiped it straight away with lukewarm water. I used a soothing lotion that came with the removal cream to soothe it but it didnt work. It became red and sore. Each time i open my mouth, the area around it hurts. I have a job interview tomorrow and would like for it to go away by then.

After years of nightmare hair removal options, I finally decided to look into permanent hair removal options. My research led me to a consultation at Manhattan's salon.
I found a website http://www.hairlaserremoval.co.uk
There are many useful information to me. Thanks to them.
At my consultation I wasn't expecting to go under the laser. In fact, I wasn't sure what to expect. My technician, Michelle, was laid-back, confident and attentive. When I asked what the results would look like, she lifted her arm and showed me the most perfect hairless armpit I'd ever seen. Knowing I was
writing an article, she even showed me her bikini line. I was blown away with the possibility of never having to shave again.
Step 1: Paper panties
Technician leaves you with paper panties. I was given the paper panties then Michelle left. She came back in and I laid on the table in basically a splayed position (a bit uncomfortable, but then Michelle was so laid back and had showed me HER bikini line so what did I care?).
Step 2: Ice cold
Ice cold jelly-like goo is squeezed onto all the soon-to-be-lasered spots. The goo apparently protects skin and offers some sort of barrier from the heated light.
Step 3: The laser wand comes out
I had no idea what this looked like until I saw it. Lasers vary, but the one Michelle used on me reminded me of the part of your printer that you attach to your computer. The part that is closest to your skin is about 4 inches long and an inch wide (although they vary). Michelle gave me a pair of sunglasses.
Step 4: The procedure begins
Basically Michelle worked along my bikini line. I had asked about the pain and she said it would feel like a rubber band snapping the skin. She was right. The pain wasn't unbearable at all, nothing like the searing pain of waxing. The laser pulses with light and you feel a 'snap.' She moves along with each 'zap.'
Step 5: Clean up
Once the lasering was over, Michelle scooped up the goo, I got dressed and that was it. No need for creams or lotions or potions. Michelle told me the hair would fall out within 2 weeks.
On my way out the door the woman at the reception desk told me I was going to love the results. I left happy and confident she was right. Then the waiting began.
Two weeks later, the hair was gone and a new hair cycle had just barely begun to grow in. Hair grows in cycles so you should get about 6 treatments to ensure you kill all the hair follicles. A month after my first treatment I went in for my second. Find out what happened in my 3rd installment of Diary of a Laser Hair Removal Guinea Pig.
For my legs i use nair lotion baby oil. IDK if it's the best but it works for me
Yes it does take off all the hair but u have to let it stay on your legs three minutes or more. Less than 3 min doesn't burn the hair off, but don't keep it on too long or it will really burn. It does burn regardless but not as bad if u keep it on too long,
IDK if it makes the hair darker cuz the hair on my legs are black so idk
Yes it is sold at walmart….it cost about $9 for a 9 oz
Jolen or Veet are good brands. I think VLCC also offers some products on this material.
I found this great product:
http://www.hairnomore.com/
use it to remove everything, like a bikini wax.
Safe for THOSE private areas!
I hate Nair and would not recommend it bc of my experience with it. It irritated me a lot and made my skin red. It might just be me, but i had some friends tell me they had the same problem. I totally recommend VEET. i've used it in between my eye brow, above upper lip, arms, legs, and armpits. It leaves my skin sooooo super soft I love it! My hair hasn't grown darker from the first time i used it…it grows the same. Yes it does take it all away, but it grows. If you never want to see hair then you will have to do a laser treatment. VEET is sold ar walmart! =)
Hope this helped! =)
Even the hair removal for women is cr*p. Waxing is the only way to go.
The best hair removal cream in the market is Veet. You can buy all sorts of products from there such as waxing kits and hair removing creams. They DO NOT sell shaving razors. Good luck!
Waxing removes the hair plus a little amount of skin – and as it's plucking the hair right out at the root, you'll have a little 'hole' there too. I imagine if you were to use a chemical hair remover it'd sting like absolute fury and you could end up with an itchy blotchy rash.
If it's only a few random hairs and you have tweezers you can do it that way, or just use a razor on the patches. Less chance of an adverse reaction.
dont use it!
the skin on your face is far more sensitive than on your legs,
it will irritate your skin and it wont turn out good.
for now all you can do is wait.
have a wonderful night.;)
