Okay… science answer:
You grow in at least 80% of your hair during puberty. When you have laser hair removal the hairs it kills will never grow again. But you still have up to 20% of your normal thickness that will grow in throughout the rest of your life. So people get touch up sessions every 3-5 years after their big 6 treatments. You need about 6 treatments, one each 2 months for a year, because the hair grows in different stages and it can only kill hair in the active growth stage. The laser works by targeting dark color (the hair follicle) and passing through light color (the skin) the hair and skin have to be very different shades of color for the hair to work. It burns the dark color disabling the hair follicle so hair cannot grow from it again. The darker and coarser the hair and lighter the skin, the better results you will have.
Okay… Personal Experience:
I've had 4 out of my 6 treatments so far. It HURTS! It's like being poked with a sewing needle over and over, but it's not as painful as a tattoo, and that's not as painful as childbirth, maybe that can put the pain in perspective for you =) I've had my legs, underarms, and bikini area done. When you get your bikini area done they do ALL of it! Including spreading your butt and vaginal lips apart to laser all the cracks… It's sorta awkward. After the 4 treatments I've had so far I've lost about 80% of leg hair, 80% bikini hair, and 80% underarms hair. But the legs are the most painful. The more it hurts the better it works. I have only a few hairs left around my ankles but every time the ankles hurt the worst for me.
I spent this much for 6 treatments in each area:

For a bikini Tx you are looking at aroudn $200 for a single Tx. You can get a package of treatments for $800 that would cover 4-5 Tx. The site http://www.HairRemovalForum.com has a number of providers in CT, NY, MA and RI. You can also but the GC at SignatureForum and it can be used for any of the providers listed on HairRemovalForum or it can be used at health clubs or spas.
They charge by "zones." It can be $50-$150 per zone. Sometimes they offer packages like 6 treatments or zones for $300.00. It takes several applications. I don't' have any contacts for San Jose, but I would think just looking around on the Web. I must warn you, it is painful. Just think about it. It is a laser (hot) being shot at close range on your face. Some leave your face feeling like a sun burn. You shouldn't work-out, or be out in the sun for like 24 hours after wards, so don't do it before going to the gym or the beach. I love my hairless face and I also did my underarms. Pretty cool!! If I had the money, I'd do more!

Usually the treatment causes 1 to 3 hours and needs a repeated treatment every 6 months or 12 months until the whole hair follicle gets damaged. Repeated treatment is needed as some hair follicle get escaped. So how many times …..it depends on the machine, the person doing the treatment and finally the body nature of yours. A treatment session may cost $400 to $3000 and more according to the area and clinical charges

Hello, forearms cost about the same as a full/brazilian bikini area. Prices can vary based on the provider, the technology and whether you are purchasing single or package treatments and whether you purchase a guarantee. You can expect the price to be between $750 to $1500 for 5-6 treatments.
PS LHR on the forearms works really well…I have seen great results on a number of people. Be careful that your arms don't get tan right before a treatment.

well, i recently signed up for some hair removal and let me tell you, it can be pricey! i dont know about each specialist but the person im going to has a price chart and each section of the body has different prices. it really depends on how much of the body u want to get done..i would say on average for one body part like lets say the chest it would probably be like a thousand dollars-and a side note-i saw the answer from the person before me..it is permanent
